Heat Pump Pressure Switch Replacement Cost in Vancouver

High vs Low Pressure Switches
Heat pumps have two pressure switches: the high-pressure switch opens if refrigerant pressure exceeds safe limits (dirty coil, overcharge, fan failure), and the low-pressure switch opens if pressure drops too low (refrigerant leak, restricted flow). Both protect the compressor from damage.
Signs of Pressure Switch Failure
The system shuts off and displays a pressure switch error code, the outdoor unit stops running but the indoor unit continues, the switch fails to close (system never starts), or the switch chatters (opens and closes rapidly) indicating a refrigerant issue.
Replacement Cost
Pressure switch replacement costs $250-450 including the switch ($50-100) and labour ($150-250). If the switch trips repeatedly after replacement, the underlying issue (refrigerant leak, dirty coil, fan failure) must be diagnosed and repaired.
