Noise Levels
Modern mini-splits operate at 19-30 dB indoors on low speed — quieter than a library (40 dB) or a refrigerator (32 dB). At higher fan speeds, they reach 35-45 dB. For bedrooms, choose models with 19-25 dB low-speed ratings. Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, and Daikin offer the quietest indoor units.
Placement for Sleep
Install the indoor unit away from the bed — preferably on a wall that is not shared with the headboard. Avoid mounting directly above the bed. Direct airflow should not hit the sleeping person. Use the horizontal air swing to direct air across the ceiling.
Nighttime Settings
Use Quiet or Night mode — this reduces fan speed and sound to minimum. Set the temperature 1-2 degrees higher than daytime for comfortable sleeping. Use the timer function to reduce operation in the middle of the night. Clean filters regularly to prevent airflow noise.
